car krash are that hot. a three piece trip/hip hop ensemble featuring Optamus from Downsyde, Brettski from Funkola and Jake on bass. bringing beats without MCs on bass, sampler, effects and drums they are perhaps similar in mood to some of dj shadows funkier stuff. This set will probably see the pace of the evening pickup.

Trilby Temperley, Bal Singh and David Scharpf form the heart of the Cloud Kollektiv. This production crew is collaborating with various artists around the world on Jazzy dub and deep dance tracks.
The Cloud track 'Weight Of The World' featuring Jono McNeil has got into the finals of the WAM Song of the year.
With Bal playing tabla, sarangi and Roland Handsonic, Trilby dropping beats and basslines live off keys/pads and David on the keys (Rhodes, HammondB4, Moog, strings), the Cloud Kollektiv also feature some brilliant voices, with possibilities ranging from Jono McNeil, Cle' and Simon Kelly. Dave Miller has been an active and successful part of the Perth electronic music scene for some time and is also signed on the Background Records. Incorporating elements of his early influences - the warmth and funk of Detroit house combined with the innovation and experimentation of electronica, his releases on the Background Records label have been deep, emotive and personal, aiming to move the mind, body and heart at once. These EP's were suited in equal parts to the club or the lounge. In the past 2 years he has performed live alongside artists such as Andrew Pekler, Sutekh, Machine Drum, Manitoba, Ozy, Funkstorung and Farben. He has collaborated with blindfolded pianist Domenico De Clario as a part of the 2003 'Totally Huge New Music Festival', with jazz drummer Laurence Pike(Triosk) in a series of improvised performances as a part of Sydneys Sound Summit and most recently with Manuel Bonrod as The Breakups.

dxu:555 is an audiovisual collaboration between composer/producer james dxu and visual artist vj555. they began began collaborating and formed dxu:555 in 2004 and have been leaving audiences speechless ever since. the audiovisual experience they create is by turns deeply ambient, manicly dancefloor or driven by nightmarish beats and images. tightly produced, melodic, unsettling and entrancing.
dxu:555 have also teamed up with 8 ball & mia roberts and done numerous performances under the moniker madball vs dxu:555 feat mia including the storming midnight set at the countdown NYE party. james dxu has also released the stunning track fluid filled lungs featuring mia roberts which is available on the deuce presents jigsaw compilation. dxu:555 have released some live recordings on DVD under the title deuce boots003 : transmissions and have a DVD of their studio work in the pipeline, which has been judged by those who have previewed it as a thing of considerable greatness
Brendan Slaven was a founding member of early techno trio Sensory Overload (1993-1998) alongside Jason Hearn (Jase From Outta Space - Ministry of Sound, 909 Records) and Jamie Side. Since leaving Sensory Overload, as ele-mental Slaven has concentrated on a more downbeat, melodic style of music. He is one of the few electronic acts to incorporate a guitar synthesizer in live performances and in the studio. “I can play any sound on the guitar from a drum kit to a weird blip sample.” Slaven explains “It allows me to utilise a more humanistic style as I’m naturally a better guitarist than a keyboardist.”

Patrick Giles, a.k.a HiRO?, is a young contemporary composer who has won multiple national and state level awards for his original mix of electronic and organic music. These include the 2001 WA song contest ‘Electronic’ category (he has also been nominated in the Youth ‘00’, Harmony ‘01’, Political ‘03’) and the inaugural APRA Professional Development Award for his compositions relating to the genre of ‘World’ music.
He has worked as a composer and producer both around the country and internationally with many artists, producers and various other organisations. These include Badac Theatre Company (Edinburgh Festival) and international producer Martin Lister (Julia Fordham, Peter Andre). He has composed for a variety of short films, animations, documentaries, web sites and advertising campaigns. Including the hit television shows “The Secret Life of Us” on Network Ten, the ABC’s “Outback Upfront” series, and “Robbin Hoodz” a short film made by S.B.S. In 2003 he took out the WA Screen Awards “Open Craft- Music”award for his work on “Worship”.
He has had tracks featured on various local and national releases. Including the “Here comes the brave” remix of the popular “the brave” E.P released by Ambidexter, and recently his track “You Know What Time it is” was featured on the 2003 Kiss My WAMi and Adelaide Fuse Festival(formally M.B.A) CD. It is through these and other releases that he has enjoyed regular national airplay on triple j and various community radio stations.
As a solo performer HiRO?. Can switch from ambient chilled beat soundscapes to fusing breaks, hip hop, funk, house and world music into his own energetic and eclectic live production sets. He has performed around the nation at various venues and festivals including Vibes on a Summers day 2003, Fuse Festival (formally M.B.A) 2004, and most recently the 2004 Adelaide International Fringe Festival.

Initially crossing paths in 2004 at Sound & Audio College in Perth. This most unlikely trio were drawn together by a common interest of Breakbeat and Sunday jam sessions. "The jammin together was starting to sound tighter, and thought why not do a demo and see if it works with the clubs. Lucky for us it did." And so the Nyquist Freqs was born consistng of Dave Sheehan (Mr Sheen), Graham Bruce (G-Money) and superclubbin turntablist David Tukaki-Johnson (Angry Buda). With differing backgrounds in house, dnb, hiphop and RnB, it's not a small list when it comes influences. The trio have been rocking at their home, Ambar's Japan4 and Boomtick events since 2005. Also having played guest slots for many a night across Perth, they have had the privilige on doing shows with some of the worlds finest. Rawbone began as a solo audiovisual project produced and performed by Perth musician/video artist, Roly Skender in 2001. In 2003 he began working with eclectic Perth DJ Jo19 and In 2004 Rawbone has evolved into an audiovisual duo playing beats, bleeps and audiovisual samples with synchronised video projections.
Rawbone’s live audiovisual performance involves synchronisation between Roly’s AV setup consisting of 2 laptops with a custom video mixer in between and DJ Jo19’s analogue sound gear which he beatmatches on the fly.
what to expect? visuals range from the sublime to hilarious (the jumpcuts of the AFL players fighting and the female flasher running nude across the oval spring to mind) and musically there is everything from jitterbug to drum n bass. they do good things

Every now and then fate rears its ugly head and throws you a curveball and you have nothing left to do but to just run with it. The genesis of Rippersnapper is indeed one of these instances. What started off as a collaborative project between producers Trifle (subspace hq) & Multipass has evolved into a live act certainly greater than the sum of its parts. With Multipass 'missing in action' Trifle has joined forces with rogue audio terrorists Matty Blades & Stoned Groove in their continued quest for world domination.
Expect the beats dark and hard, as Rippersnapper launch an all-out audio assault and the jungle warfare continues on. With a sonic arsenal including laptops, samplers & turntables, as well as live keys & drums, the fight for live drum n bass is not over yet. not by a long shot.

subspace hq are Trifle and his menagerie of audio mercenaries, throwing down their own brand of trip-hop & electro-jazz.
