8 Ball | jonathan craig 8 Ball (aka madball aka oddball) is an electronic music artist specialising in moody beat driven dance music ranging in styles from ambient to dub to breaks to harder styles of techno and electronica. his sound is unusual for the range of genres which it references, never quite fitting within any of them and featuring a more multi-textured approach than that seen in mainstream dance music. he has developed as an artist from humble beginnings in early 2001 when he first started experimenting with the sounds created by running a casio keyboard and a simple drum machine through various amplifiers and effects pedals. since then he has refined his art and established himself as a sophisticated producer, conversant with an array of equipment and with a commitment to live hardware performance. 8 Ball has worked in conjunction with other artists including cellist melanie robinson (as ether), munchie man & kezia (as deuce sound system), james dxu & VJ555 (as madball vs dxu:555) and mia roberts (as snowball). releases | pauly fatlace | paul bridge pauly fatlace has been deuce’s designated dj, bringing his love of all sorts of music to the turntables. while breaks and hip hop are his lynchpins, dancehall, electro, underground 2 step, reggae, funk, or downbeat are all possible tangents. pauly has played many major and minor venues, clubs, backyard parties, living rooms, dingy pubs, a couple of engagement parties, and a school disco. while he enjoys the bigger and classier joints for pure sound quality (such as ambar, geisha, globe and HEAT), the impromptu and/or illegal ones are more fun, and the odd ones are the best for writing up on website blurbs. anyone got a slot going at a bar mitzvah? pauly is now rocking his own night in melbourne - check him and the melbourne hip hop massive oput at turbine 37 | jay scroop
